After the paint dried, this one had a quiet look to it. The gray softened the cedar without covering everything up. You could still see the grain and knots through it, which I liked.
For some reason it reminded me of an open field on a cloudy day. Nothing really happening, and everything just seeming a little slower and quieter.
I didn't try to get the paint perfectly even. Some places took a little more than others, and the grain showed through differently depending on the board. I figured there wasn't much reason to mess with it.
I went darker on the roof and hole guard and kept everything else pretty simple.
When I stood back and looked at it, it wasn't flashy or anything. It just had this quiet, settled look to it.
Like a Quiet Field.
