I wasn't really sure what I was going to call this one when I started it. I had the color in mind, but that was about it.
Once the color went on, it reminded me of that last bit of sunlight toward the end of the day. That time when the sun is getting low, everything seems to slow down, and for a little while the yard gets pretty still.
The paint didn't go on evenly, which I actually liked. Some parts of the cedar took more color than others. I thought about messing with it some more, but decided to leave it alone. I went darker on the roof and kept everything else pretty simple.
When it was finished, the color kept reminding me of those few quiet minutes in the evening. The gold was there, but it was really that still feeling that stuck with me.
That's where Golden Still came from.
