What ends up on The Picket Board can start from just about anywhere. In the shop, out in the yard, beside a birdhouse, on the lawn mower, staring at an old photo, or just something I noticed along the way.
Sometimes my mind wanders while I’m at it. One thing gets me thinking about another, and an old memory might pop up that I haven't thought about in years.
Every now and then, I'll write something down. Nothing fancy, just something I noticed, remembered, or got to thinking about.
That's pretty much The Picket Board. I hope you find something you enjoy.

The Cat Under the House
I saw a cat sitting under one of my birdhouses, not hunting, just waiting. Once you notice that kind of patience, you start seeing the whole setup differently — what’s below a house, beside it, and close enough to climb.
Keeping the Tools Ready
I’ve learned it’s a lot easier to start a project when the tools are ready to go. Sometimes a few minutes at the end saves a lot of aggravation the next time.
Why I Don’t Fix Everything
Some things around here could probably use fixing. I’ve just learned that not everything that’s old, worn, or a little crooked needs to be made new again.
